As we promised a few days ago, here we are with a brief report involving the experience of one of our Sentinelle dell’Energia non profit association team members in the European Youth in Action Programme co-funded seminar project “Social Entrepreneurship in Youth Work”.
As a first post, this will be an introductory one, thereby generally indicating the overall framework which made it possible this valuable and memorable experience, how it all began, the main actors involved, the geographic positioning, and the main theme of the project. We made it a little bit funny, trying not to bore the readers.
Then, we will return with another post next week, in order to leave you with some suspance and avoiding to make this story a boring one 🙂
So, do not miss further time, we from Sentinelle want to make efficient use of resources, time included 😉
HOW IT ALL BEGAN – VICOLOCORTO NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION
So, how it all began? As every fascinating self-respecting experience, the “Sentinella” adventure started in a confused mixture of precisely defined objectives (those related to getting more acquainted with Erasmus+ EU Programme and with social entrepreneurship economic theory), uncertainities about the location of the project, scarce knowledge about the traditions and culture of Armenian people, and hopes to live a valuable experience by knowing new friends and opening to other Countries cultures.
It was wednesday and, as usual, our Sentinella was studying in Biblioteca San Giovanni in Pesaro when he suddendly met some cool guys from Vicolocorto non profit organisation. This is a juvenile association born in 2006, specialised in youth work and mainly in education and international mobility (for those afraid of feeling bored, let avoid reading the next two sentences…). Education refers to non formal learning activities, which represent activities taking place outside the scholastic and academic contexts. In order to do that, Vicolocorto organizes meetings, seminars and events, specific educational workshops for young people, youth exchanges, seminars and European Voluntary Services (EVS). If you want to know more about Vicolocorto, visit its wewbsite, or come to Informagiovani in Biblioteca San Giovanni, every wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ! So, where did I stopped the report? Sure, I was saying that our Sentinella eventually met some cool guys from Vicolocorto. They were talking with some cool guys from Pesaro (there was also another future Sentinella) and with some cute EVS girls from Eastern Europe and Eastern Asia. Vicolocorto proposed our Sentinella to be engaged in one of their international seminar projects, and our Sentinella suddendly became attracted by the proposal of “Social Entrepreneurship in Youth Work”, provided to be held in Tatev, Armenia, from 14 to 22 May. Indeed, our Sentinella had yet previuosly seen this call, thanks to Informagiovani punctual signalling, and he thought about it as one of those things you think really interesting and fascinating but that you eventually never do. This time was different, the Sentinella chose to participate. It would have been a positive experience and could led the possibility to know more about Erasmus+ EU Programme, to gain contact with new associations, making it possible to organize further projects for the future!
He could not imagine that the experience would really have exceeded his expectations 🙂 So, after having decided to take part on the project,
Vicolocorto made a great job in preparing the Sentinella and the other Italian participant, coming from Bologna, for the seminar. We do not want to entre in details. Let me only say that the Sentinella had been constantly followed, both by the Armenian promoting organisation ICIRLD (please see below) and in particular by Oliver Wiechmann, both by Vicolocorto, either by e-mail, by phone or by the direct preparatory meeting.
THE MAIN ACTORS INVOLVED
Other than Vicolocorto, a very important support was that of the organizers, that is ICIRLD non profit organization. ICIRLD, International Center for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue, is an international organization with headquarters in Armenia, which is aimed at the development of Intercultural Dialogue and Culture of Peace.
Aims of the organization are:
• Comparative research and presentation of national peculiarities of different nations;
• Promotion of intercultural, inter-religious and inter-civilization dialogue;
• Conflict Resolution and establishment of Culture of Peace in the World;
• Consolidation of the potential of representatives of different cultures for solution of global problems;
For more information, please read here.
Moreover, it is not possible to forget the other participants, starting from the other Italian girl from Bologna by Africa and Mediterraneo association, and the other participants from Croatia (3), Netherlands (1), Moldova (2), Lithuania (2), Georgia (2), Latvia (2), Belarus (2), Bulgaria (2), and Armenia itself. T
he Sentinella is very grateful to all of them for the precious experience we had. We do not have enough space and patience from the readers to explain how all of them were unique and pleasant persons and the best team mates you could expect for a seminar! Hereunder, we report some posters presentation from each involved association and organisation:
At the beginning, he really did not imagined that we would have succeded in creating such a coesive group, but this is a next posts story 😉
THE GEOGRAPHIC POSITIONING
Tatev is located in the South East part of Armenia, in Syunik Region. It is a small village of about 350 – 500 people, in which adults mainly conduct traditional and low environmental impact agricultural and animal farming (mainly cows, sheeps, horses, chickens) activities. Moreover, tourism is developed too, thanks to the presence of the famous Tatev 9th century Monastery, which is linked to the nearby territory by an important and impressive funicular railway, named the Wings of Tatev, about 5 kms long, the longest in the world.
MAIN THEME OF THE PROJECT
The seminar was related to social entrepreneurship, and its aim was to apply its theoretic economic principles in order to tackle the unemployment issue, especially in the rural areas. That’s the reason why the project took place in the rural village of Tatev.
Here the first post about social enterpreneurship experience has ended. Hope you enjoyed it and be ready for next week post!!
